Member Organizers:
Helping More Hospital Employees Unite in SEIU UHW-West

"Lift up your chin. You have a voice in your union," Member Organizer Gloria Manlutac tells healthcare workers she visits during union elections.
"I didn't get involved at first when my co-workers wanted to form a union," she explains,"but my job travels all over the hospital, and in each unit I listened to people saying they need to improve workload and staffing. So, I decided I had to do something."
Now, Gloria is part of a team of over one hundred Member Organizers who met with health care workers from twenty different non-union hospitals. Their efforts have paid off — SEIU-UHW has grown to a union of 130,000 members statewide.

SEIU UHW-West's Member Organizers are reaching out to healthcare professionals across the region to help them form a union with SEIU. In the past four years they've helped thousands of employees at Catholic Healthcare West, HCA, and Tenet to form their unions. After all, who knows better the difference that having a healthcare union can make than SEIU members?
