Citizenship Information & Citizenship Refresher Sessions

 What are Citizenship Information Sessions?
The naturalization process can be expensive, difficult and time consuming. Eligibility requirements are also very complicated. In these Citizenship Information Sessions, program staff provide information on citizenship qualifications, application procedures, and the time frame for obtaining citizenship status. Legal referrals are also available.

Please note that you are responsible for your own application and eligibility is determined by USCIS on an individual basis. SEIU-UHW does not provide legal advice.
 
 Basic citizenship requirements include:
You must also be:
  • You have been a lawful permanent resident for at least 5 years.
    OR, alternatively
  • A lawful permanent resident for at least 3 years, AND
  • You have been married to and living with the same U.S citizen for the last 3 years, AND
  • Your spouse has been a U.S. Citizen for the last 3 years.
  • At least 18 years old
  • Able to read and write basic English
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of basic U.S. history and government
  • Willing to take an oath of allegiance to the United States
  • Of good moral character

Citizenship Refresher Class:

Members, spouses, domestic partners and other immediate family who have recently submitted an application to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services have an opportunity to participate in a class that reviews the naturalization process as it relates to the U.S. citizenship interview and exam. The class focuses on interview techniques and includes an opportunity to view U.S. citizenship interviews on video.

Informacíon Sobre Ciudadanía

Durante las sesiones le daremos informacíon sobre los requistos de ciudadanía, el procedimiento de la aplicación y el tiempo necessario para obtener la ciudadanía. Para convertise en ciudadano de los Estados Unidos, usted debe:
  •  Haber sido residente permanente legal por cinco anos

    O tener
  • Residencia de tres anos si esta casado(a) con un ciudadano(a) tres anos y su esposo(a) es ciudadano por lo menos tres anos.
  • Tambien debe:
    Tener por lo menos 18 ans de edad
    Poder leer, escribir y entender el ingles básico
    Demonstrar un comocimiento básico de la historia y el gobierno de los Estados Unidos
    Estar dispuesto a hacer el juramento de lealtadhacia los Estados Unidos
    Tener buena conducta moral
