Review daily updates from the SEIU Convention at  www.SEIUVOICE.org.

Check www.SEIUVoice.org, to view breaking news coverage, action alerts, members blogging from inside the convention, and more. SEIUvoice also features a nightly video show letting you know what's going on in our fight for union democracy.

This convention is our opportunity to get our union back on the right track. UHW is proposing a slate of amendments to the SEIU Constitution that will guarantee bottom-up leadership and a voice for rank-and-file members. It’s all part of a growing movement to reverse SEIU’s move toward centralizing power in Washington, D.C., while reducing the strength of our members.

 Why the Convention is Important

The 2008 SEIU International Convention is our opportunity to set our union on the right path, now and into the future. Every four years, delegates from every local union in SEIU make decisions that determine the union’s direction.

This year, UHW is proposing a slate of constitutional amendments that will improve our ability to achieve real growth and real strength by guaranteeing democracy and a voice for rank-and-file members. Votes taken at previous SEIU conventions have helped change our union’s focus and direction, and that’s why it’s more important than ever that we enshrine democracy and real justice this year.
